MINI Countryman

The Countryman is an intoxicating package. All the handling ability of a MINI in a larger package and the ability to go off-road (and it can), all wrapped up in one of the most desirable brands in the market.

The ‘swollen’ MINI looks take a little getting used to, and at first glance it doesn’t look cheap. But it is competing in the C-Segment, and actually looks good value when co... more

Kia Sportage

A rugged and capable looking car that will appeal to many. Offering more than the standard C-segment hatchback, but occupying a similar footprint, is definitely en-vogue at the moment. Well specified and sensibly priced, this is another Kia to be taken seriously.

The ‘crossover’ positioning may be stretching it a little; this seems to be a proper compact SUV, even if you can specify... more

Jaguar XJ

Dramatic styling, strong performance and handling, and a desire to own. Comments not often made of the Jaguar XJ in recent years, but the new model is another example that Jaguar is a brand renewed. This car is a high quality product, more akin to a Bentley than to its current peers in the segment. Pricing, specification and emissions are all very competitive.

The styling won’t appeal... more

Saab 9-5

Seemingly back from the dead (and years of GM suppression), the quirky Swedish brand has launched a competent, quality car that befits its heritage. Attractive, roomy and with a softer approach to being premium than other brands, a new 9-5 has been a long time coming - but actually worth the wait.

These ever austere times may not be the best to launch a large saloon car into a decreasing ... more

Audi A1

Compact, good looking, well packaged, quality build and the premium badge of the moment – how can it fail?

It has been suggested that it isn’t as exciting as a MINI, and that Audi DNA (although ticks all of the right boxes) is now becoming just a little too familiar. Maybe buyers will opt for A1 rather than A3, but that may be a good thing to reduce the brand’s dominance in the pr... more

Nissan Juke

The avant-garde design of the Juke is a real statement and offers something different to the mainstream B-segment offerings, however its looks may not be for everyone. It does act a as foil for the slightly bland new Micra.

Those polarising looks may be too bold for some, and also compromises some of the internal dimensions. The price position for Juke seems bold when compared to the m... more
