Rise will make VAT difference say drivers!
Two out of three motorists won't bring forward the purchase of their next car because of the forthcoming VAT rise according to new poll by car supermarket Motorpoint.
Some 67% of people quizzed on the car supermarket giant's website - www.motorpoint.co.uk - said the 2.5% increase wouldn't affect their buying behaviour. Over 1,200 took part in the survey.
Motorpoint recently became the first car supermarket to announce that it wouldn't be passing on the VAT rise to its customers when it comes into force in January 2011.
Says David Shelton, Managing Director of Motorpoint: "It is clear that suggestions of a sales surge in the wake of the new Government's Emergency Budget were a little premature, particularly when car supermarkets such as Motorpoint are set to absorb the extra cost."
